Nitsa Anastasiades was raised in UK, London. She is British, of Greek Cypriot descent, hence her current project: Sea with Salty Water, a novel delving into the Greek Cypriot diaspora’s post 1950’s Cyprus migration, in particular to Britain, where she grew up and witnessed from afar the 1974 Cyprus invasion, with her family, and its impact. A story of culture, identity, generational stories, relationships, love, loss and yearning for belonging, these themes are a constant in Nitsa’s work, as can be seen in:
Her debut Hamster Rats & Other Stuff Going On—tales drawn from her experiences in 1980’s – 2000’s suburban England, then:
Our Foreign Borders, stories in cities around the world, concerning loneliness, landscape, exile, the sexes, culture, prejudice, patriarchy and displacement. Influenced from her travels and observations whilst teaching in various countries, it explores who we really are when we cross both physical and emotional borders.
Her poetry collection Life is coming out soon!
